Meet Shelby Caffrey – Founder & Head Facilitator of CaffreYoga
E-RYT 500, YACEP, C-IAYT
Tier 3 Certified Baptiste Power Yoga Educator
Certified Yin & Restorative Yoga Teacher
Graduate, Breathing Deeply Yoga Therapy School
I began practicing yoga at 19 as a form of self-care during a stressful career in the arts, and it quickly grew into a lifelong study and passion. I’ve trained extensively in Baptiste Power Yoga, completing Baron Baptiste’s FIT to Lead program and earning the distinction of Tier 3: Certified Baptiste Power Yoga Influencer. I am an E-RYT 500, a Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider (YACEP), and the owner and lead trainer of CaffreYoga Registered Yoga School, all accredited by Yoga Alliance.
While my roots are in power vinyasa, my personal practice began to shift in profoundly transformational ways as I explored styles focused on nervous system regulation, healing, and balance. This led me to certifications in Yin Yoga and Restorative Yoga, and as a Meditation Mentor, helping clients build individualized, sustainable meditation practices. During the pandemic, I took my studies even further and became a certified Yoga Therapist with International Association of Yoga Therapists. Today, I work one-on-one with clients to help reduce the effects of chronic symptoms—from physical conditions like sciatica, back pain, and migraines to autoimmune disorders such as fibromyalgia and multiple sclerosis, as well as mental health challenges including anxiety, depression, and trauma. I guide professionals in the corporate wellness program at The Playground—a cutting-edge fitness facility in Manhattan’s iconic Seagram Building—through tailored yoga and meditation sessions that foster balance and resilience. I also develop and teach yoga curriculum as an adjunct professor in the community college classroom, equipping young adults with vital tools at a pivotal stage of their lives. I’m thankful for these distinct opportunities—each with its own audience and challenges—which have sharpened my greatest strength: knowing which tool to draw from my yoga toolbox in any given moment.
For years, I thought I would open a yoga studio of my own—but I’ve come to realize that my true gift is supporting studio owners in building powerful, purpose-driven teams. One thing I’ve learned through years of collaboration, training, and mentorship is this: yoga studio owners share a deep commitment to helping their teams and students thrive. That’s my dream too—to support you and your studio in that mission, and to uplift everyone working to make the world a better place through the study and practice of yoga.
